MAPD Disenrollment Period
If you are currently enrolled in a Medicare Advantage or a Medicare prescription drug plan and would like to make changes, for the following year, you will be able to do it during the Medicare Advantage Dis-enrollment Period. This period runs from January 1st through February 14th.
During this period you can switch from a Medicare Advantage plan back to Original Medicare. You will also be able to join a Medicare Advantage Drug Plan. It will become effective on the first day of the month following the month in which the plan received your enrollment form.
During this time, you may not switch from Original Medicare into a Medicare Advantage Plan. You may also not switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another Medicare Advantage Plan. The same is true for Medicare Prescription Drug plans; there is no switching from one to another. Lastly, you may not join, you may not switch, and you may not drop a Medicare Medical Savings Account Plan (MSA Plan).
